Biorege Polymeric Nanosystems & AI Assisted Applications Laboratory

By combining diverse scientific fields such as polymer science and nanotechnology, biochemistry, sensor technologies, in vitro/in vivo studies, and artificial intelligence, we aim to develop original solutions that span multiple disciplines.

History of the Laboratory

laboratuvar

Prof. Dr. Sinan Akgöl founded the Biochemistry Research Group in 2005, initially focusing on the development of specific adsorbents for the purification of biomolecules from their natural environments. Over the years, the isolation and purification of biomolecules—including proteins, enzymes, antibodies, nucleic acids, and hormones—have become increasingly significant in biotechnology, biochemistry, pharmacy, and medical sciences. Within this field, affinity-based separation techniques have gained particular prominence due to their high selectivity.

From its early years, the group pioneered the design and development of monodisperse nano- and microspheres, macrospheres, membranes, and magnetic carriers, tailoring these materials for diverse applications such as protein purification and the removal of toxic substances. The group’s research further expanded into exploring the applicability of polymeric nanosorbents across bioseparation, sensor development, and biomolecule isolation.

Hybrid Intelligence-Driven Nanopolymeric Sensor for Precise Electrochemical Vitamin C Analysis, Free from LoD: Application in Real Lemon Juice

This study presents the design, synthesis, and systematic evaluation of an electrochemical nanosensor platform tailored for the precise and selective quantification of vitamin C. The sensor architecture integrates His-functionalized poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) (His-pHEG) polymeric nanoparticles onto Nafion-modified screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCE), thereby providing a bioactive interface with enhanced analyte affinity and stability.
